This is a trumpet solo with piano accompaniment for the traditional hymn, "It is Well with My Soul" by Horatio G. Spafford. It was written after two traumas in his life.
The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially.
Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.
Alternate solo parts are available.

Will L. Thompson is the composer of the this hymn. He was born in 1847 in Ohio and went to school for music. After a successful career in writing secular music, he turned to writing gospel hymns. Dwight L. Moody, noted evangelist and a personal friend of Will Thompson used this hymn as an invitation in all his meetings throughout Great Britain and the U.S.
This is arranged here as a trumpet/cornet solo with brass ensemble accompaniment.
Frances Havergal, daughter of an Anglican clergyman in England, penned the words to this hymn in 1874 after praying for the conversion of an entire family, and seeing God answer her prayer.
Cesar Malan, an ordained pastor in Switzerland composed the tune for this text. Although he wrote more than 1000 hymn texts and tunes, he is remembered primarily for this tune, "Hendon".
This is an easy arrangement for solo trumpet with piano accompaniment. It includes a piano intro and 2 verses of the hymn with a short interlude.
